Correcting Misaligned Teeth
Adult orthodontic treatment can correct crooked teeth and improperly spaced teeth. Misaligned teeth can make chewing difficult and create abnormal tooth wear. Adults of any age can benefit from correcting orthodontic problems. You have choices in the types of orthodontic braces.
Crowded and crooked teeth are hard to clean and maintain. As a result, this may contribute to conditions that cause tooth decay, gum disease and tooth loss. Other orthodontic problems include abnormal tooth wear, inefficient chewing, excessive stress on gum tissue and misalignment of the jaw joints, which can result in chronic facial pain and /or headaches.
Orthodontic problems left untreated many become worse. It is often less costly to correct the original problem than to wait and treat more serious problems that can develop in later years.
Its not too late to correct your smile's alignment and spacing. Adults make up about one in every five orthodontic patients. We can correct many different types of orthodontic-alignment-problems.
Orthodontic Procedure Time Frame
Orthodontic treatment time with dental braces can range from one to three years. Interceptive orthodontics (early treatment) may take just a few months. The severity of the problem, patient's age and growth of the mouth and face strongly influence the actual time span of required treatment. Completing treatment as scheduled is also effected by patient cooperation in wearing dental appliances as prescribed.
Orthodontic treatment requires commitment in following the treatment plan. Patients are rewarded with properly aligned teeth and a healthy beautiful smile that lasts a lifetime. Proper alignment the teeth and jaws look better, work better, and can improve one's self-image and confidence.
Successful completion of the treatment plan requires that the patient keep appointments as scheduled, wear rubber bands, headgear or other appliances as prescribed by Dr. Clausen and carefully clean their teeth to avoid damage to the appliance. Damaged appliances can cause an undesirable outcome and lengthen the treatment time. We provide retainer replacement and repair to damaged braces.
