Lumineer™ by Cerinate ® is an ultra-thin (0.2 mm) porcelain veneer. Lumineer ultra thin veneers provide patients with a no-preparation (no drilling, no grinding) procedure option. Lumineers can also be placed over existing crown or bridgework.
Emprethin™, Empress Veneers are ceramic veneers that are also ultra-thin and can be used in a no-prep or a conservative low-prep application. A low-prep veneer application allows for greater longevity of the veneers.
Emprethin is an ultra thin veneer made from pressed ceramic that is approximately 0.2 mm – 0.4 mm thick. Veneers can provide a natural looking beautiful smile that looks perfect. Both Lumineer and Ultrathin are ceramic porcelain veneers that are bonded onto the front of the teeth. The size, shape, and alignment of the teeth will dictate if the patient is a candidate for the no-preparation option.
Benefits of Lumineer™ and Emprethin™ veneers
Ultra-thin veneers are highly translucent, allowing them to replicate the natural appearance of dental enamel. Lumineer™ and Emprethin™ offer a minimal or no-preparation way to permanently whiten and align your smile. Stained, crooked, chipped, and unevenly spaced teeth can be corrected.
Dental Veneer Placement Procedure Time Frame
- Time to complete - Dr. Clausen usually requires two visits to place dental veneers and takes between two to four weeks to complete the process.
- 1st procedure visit - Dr. Clausen makes a dental mold of the teeth to be veneered. Dr. Clausen will recommend the shade of white that best blends with the other visible front teeth and will create a natural looking beautiful smile. The mold is sent to the lab for fabrication of your veneers. If a low-preparation option is needed, the teeth to be veneered are abraded to provide a better fit and bond to the tooth. Dr. Clausen will create temporary resin veneers for the prepared teeth. The resin veneer looks like the permanent veneers but does not offer the durability of the ceramic.
- 2nd visit - Dr. Clausen, removes the temporary veneers, cleans the teeth to be veneered, and bonds the veneers to the teeth. The process is painless and provides a beautiful permanent smile.
Dental work and service life
Lumineer™ and Emprethin™ veneers do not withstand excessive force. Clinical testing shows that ultra-thin veneers can last and look great for up to 20 years. We find that individual results vary greatly depending on the habits of the patient. Bitting hard foods like ribs, ice chewing, and nail biting can damage the veneer over time and reduce the usable live.
Other dental veneer options
Long-lasting more durable results may be obtained with a stronger porcelain dental veneer and preparing the existing teeth for a little thicker, and more durable veneer.
The number of ceramic veneers required is only part of the expense. Supporting dental work needs to be considered. The total cost of veneers is patient specific. Dr. Clausen will provide you with a cost estimate after examining your teeth.
Dr. Clausen will help you decide which system is the most appropriate to achieve your goals.
